Updated Christchurch Seismicity Map

This is the best map going! It's been updated to reflect the shocks in December and early January. The map clearly shows how the various shocks fall into four families, by time period, and associated with the particular faults in motion. So far, the seismicity is progressing in an arc from west to east.

My thought is that the seismicity will eventually circle back onshore, until a near-circle is formed, to reflect the counter-clockwise motion imposed on the area by continental drift. But whether this idea is right, or not, I'm sure the thought of all Cantabrians is that the whole miserable process, whatever it is, just stop.
