RIP, Tevye Ditter

Shocked and deeply saddened by the news.... Our community feels this pain very deeply. My heart reaches out to everyone....

[UPDATE 04/19/14] Here is a message from Jackie Shelley, Tev's mom:
Dear Marc,

Thank you so much for posting beautiful messages about Tevye. I miss him so greatly and I am broken hearted. Please continue to open up about Tev to the public.

The funeral services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, 3001 Wisseman Drive, Sacramento 95826. (Not far from the intersection of Watt Avenue and Folsom Blvd.)

Date: April 26, 2014. Viewing is at 11:00-11:45 and services start at 12:00 at the LDS Church. Burial at East Lawn at 3:00 pm, 5757 Greenback Lane, Sacramento 95841 followed by reception back at the Church. We should be finished in the afternoon.

[UPDATED] There will also be an informal memorial for friends in the Sacramento-area musical theater community. The gathering will be held Monday evening, April 28th, from 7-10:30 pm at Green Valley Theatre Company, 3823 V St., Sacramento (near UCD Medical Center, on Stockton south of Highway 50).
Please RSVP if you are interested. Bring a dish or drink, sheet music and any stories/memories to share. Let's give Tevye the proper theatrical farewell he deserves!

There is also a vigil tonight, April 21st, from 10 pm-midnight at Missouri Street Theater, 1035 Texas St. Fairfield, CA 94533:
On Monday, April 21st from 10pm to 12 Midnight at The Downtown Theatre we will be holding a vigil for Tevye Ditter. There will be a grief counselor there and we will all gather to mourn the loss of a very important MST family member and a friend to the entire theatre community. He is loved and will be missed. Let's gather and hug and cry and be the family that we are.

    Thanks. I really appreciate the photos. I never got to see any of Tev's shows or hear him sing. It's a real treat to see a side of Tev that I never really knew.

    Thank you for sharing these photos. I've known Tevye since high school, and though I haven't seen him in a long time, this still strikes me as a tragic and untimely loss.

    My condolences as I worked with Tevye. Tevye's boss Joel, was joking with Shelly (Joel's boss) about how much pressure he was putting on Tevye lately. I wonder if that contributed to this tragic event.

    1. Hello: From what I understand, work stress had little or nothing to do with Tev's death. The important stressors were elsewhere in his life.
